The government will purchase 500 MW of electricity from India to meet the growing demand for electricity.
The Indian National Thermal Power Company (NTPC) and Power Trading Company (PTC) will supply this power for 15 years.The proposal was approved at a meeting of the committee held in the Secretariat with finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chairmanship of the committee.The meeting was attended by the committee members, senior secretaries of cabinet division, secretary of the concerned ministry and senior officials. After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Mostafizur Rahman told reporters.He said, today's meeting has been given a proposal regarding the department raised. In the short term, at a rate of 4.7 paisa per kilo Vt. 300 pounds from NTPC, 200 Mw from PTC at TK 4.88 Taka and a long term of Tk 2.58 per kWh. 'Megawat electricity will be bought.
