Bangladesh receives huge financial support from the World Bank for the expansion of power transmission network.
That's why the World Bank is supporting $45 billion.Local currency stood at Tk 3,600 crore.An agreement has been signed in the Economic Relations Division (ERD) conference room in city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Tuesday. ERM Additional Secretary Mahmuda Begum and Bangladesh Country Director of Bangladesh, Chimaoya Fan signed the agreement on their behalf. The concerned officials of the ERD and World Bank and project officials were present.It was informed that the government will give a loan of $ 45 billion to the project for expansion and strengthening of the Eastern Electricity Network.At the program, World Bank's Country Director, Chimaoya Fan, said Bangladesh has made remarkable progress in power generation over the last decade. Accordingly, the distribution of electricity and transmission system was not developed. One of the priorities of the World Bank to cooperate with the development of Bangladesh's power sector.The World Bank's assistance exceeded $200 million in six projects of this project including electricity.
