Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government has made extensive development in the health sector including improvement of medical services.
Infrastructural development, medical education and manpower development, adequate number of manpower recruitment, family planning and population control, the development of nursing services, use of information technology in healthcare, law and policies in last nine years. As a result, it is easier for the people of the country to get the required quality health services.On 7 April, he said these words in a message given on Friday on World Health Day.Sheikh Hasina said that the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the greatest all-time nation, made a breakthrough in expansion of health care at the union level to reach medical services immediately to the doorstep of the common people. The present Awami League government has been working relentlessly for the development of the country's health by following the footprint of the Father of the Nation. In recognition of the success of the health sector, Bangladesh has achieved international award like the MDG Award, the South South Award and the Gavi Award.She said that to ensure universal health care in the country, many non-governmental organizations and organizations will have to come forward as well as government. I think it is very important to increase the health awareness among the public, increase the responsibilities of health care workers. Expecting the sincere cooperation of all concerned to ensure the health of all, and to make the best efforts to take appropriate action in this regard.
