The country's 12th city corporation is Mymensingh. The National Implementation Committee (NICAR) on administrative re-organization has approved the proposal to set up Mymensingh City Corporation.

After the meeting, secretary of the Cabinet Division (coordination and reform) NM Ziaul Alam told the SEC.He said that the City Corporation area has been included in the union of the two unions (Bura and Akua) and six unions (Khagdahar, Charashivadia, Dapuniya, partial village, partial rural areas of Charanlakshya) among 13 unions of Sadar upazila of Mymensingh.The secretary said, "The new city corporation will have a scope of 91.3315 sq km The population density of 5,167 people per square kilometer. The total population is 4 lakh 71 thousand 858.Ziaul Alam also said that the eight conditions of the population density, the income source, the number of industries and the city corporation, which are in Mymensingh.
