Public and private banks are suffering from severe liquidity crisis. It has been decided to keep 50 percent of government deposits from private banks to meet the liquidity crisis.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has said that the decision will be implemented very quickly. At present, the rate is 25 percent.The Finance minister said this at Janata Bank's annual conference at Sonargaon Hotel in the city on Sunday.Chairman of the Board of Directors of Janata Bank Luna Shamsuddohar presided over the welcome address, Senior Secretary of the Financial Institution Division M Yunusur Rahman. Bangladesh Bank Governor Fazle Kabir, Acting Secretary of the Department of Finance Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury and Managing Director of Janata Bank and Managing Director Abdus Salam Azad spoke on the occasion.
