Bangladesh Railway (BR) has made a big plan to increase the standard of service to increase revenue.
The Ministry of Railways sources said today. According to the plan, Bangladesh Railway will import seven hundred passenger coaches, 40 broad broad and 150 meter gauge engines and 1075 wagons to increase the capacity of the railway to ensure better services for both transport and passenger transport.South Korea's Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) will be financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and suppliers credit to 600 coaches for the meter gauge line in the 700 coaches. The rest of the 'broad gauge coach' will be brought under Padma bridge railway connectivity project.
Railway Minister M. Mujibul Haque told BSS that the Bangladesh Railway (BRB) is implementing various projects for the development of railway services. He said 466 wagons will be purchased and rehabilitated for 46 broad and meter gauge rail engines, 668 passenger coaches and broad gauge and meter gauge lines under the project.
The minister said the BR has already fixed 1,891 kilometers of old line rehabilitation and new 284 kilometers new lines to increase railway network.
