Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said the government is going to take stricter action so that no one can create a worrisome crisis in the market of the country.
He said this while addressing a seminar on "Role of Business Competition Commission: Role of Bangladesh Competition Commission" at CIRDAP auditorium at Topkhana Road in capital Dhaka on Thursday. The seminar organized by the newly organized 'Bangladesh Competition Commission' under the control of the Ministry of Commerce.Noting that nobody can influence the commodity market, he said, "To ensure the competitive market of essential products, all concerned will have to work with responsibility''.The minister said, "The present government has taken all steps to ensure business competition in the commodities markets. In view of the country's growing economic development, the government has passed the Competition Act in 2012 to ensure a healthy competitive environment for business and commerce. The legislation has been enacted so that the market does not create an incomplete marketing system or the consumer's interests are contrary to it. Now the commission is being strengthened''.
