Today is World Weather Day. Like other countries in the world, the day is celebrated in the appropriate dignity in Bangladesh.
The Meteorological Department has organized various programs on this occasion. President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have made separate statements on the occasion of the day.In a message on World Meteorological Day-2011, the Prime Minister said, our government has recently approved the Bangladesh Regional Climate and Climate Service Project to improve the delivery of weather and climate services to the local people, especially the farmers and the national economy.Since 1951, World Meteorological Day is celebrated on 23rd March worldwide. The theme of the year is 'Weather-Ready, Climate Smart'. Currently 189 countries are members of the World Meteorological Organization. All the members of the World Meteorological Organization including Bangladesh observe the state day every year.
