According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), 26 lakh 80 thousand unemployed people in the country are more than 15 years old.

This information was made in the labor survey of the 2016-17 fiscal year published officially in BBS auditorium on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the survey, the number of unemployed in the fiscal year 2015-16 was 2.6 million. In the next one year, this number has increased to 80 thousand. But the country's average unemployment rate is 4 percent 2 percent.

It is said, among the higher educators, unemployment rate is high. 11.2 percent of the total unemployment is highly educated. The number of women and men in the unemployed population is almost equal.

It is also said that in the last one year, new employment has created 13 lakh people. 14 lakh people working without wages are involved in wage-based employment. And ten million people join the labor market.

Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan and Acting Secretary of Statistics and Information Division of the Ministry of Planning Souravendra Nath Chakraborty were present in the program. Project Director Kabir Uddin Ahmed presented the results of the survey.
