Cabinet approval of fertilizer management law

The approval was given at a regular meeting of the cabinet held at the Prime Minister's Office on Monday. The meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam told reporters after the meeting.He said that under the proposed Act, the provision of penalty for sale of adulterated fertilizers has been given to 2 years of rigorous imprisonment or Tk 5 lakh fine or both. Under the previous law, adulterated fertilizer was sentenced to 6 months' rigorous imprisonment or maximum penalty of 30 thousand taka or both.He also said that in 2006 the law was amended in a limited way. This correction has been made to update it more. The definition of this law changes the mixed fertilizer to balanced fertilizer (mixed balance fertilizer).
