Bangladesh has achieved eligibility for transition from LDC category to developing countries.
UN Secretary-General at the United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CPD) in New York on Tuesday at the mid-night. The meeting said that Bangladesh has achieved all the indicators of crossing from low-income countries. Later, this announcement letter was handed over to Bangladesh's permanent representative Ambassador to United Nations Masud bin Momen on Friday. The letter was handed over to Ambassador Masud, on the occasion of Bangladesh Permanent Mission, Bangabandhu Auditorium organized an informal ceremony organized by Roland Molerras, Chief of CPD Secretariat.This information was released on Saturday in a press release issued by the United Nations Permanent Mission. It is said that CPD announced on March 16 the qualification of Bangladesh from the LDC category at the United Nations Headquarters. Accordingly, the letter was handed over. Bangladesh was already recognized by the lower middle income countries. Now the United Nations declaration qualifies for the transition from the L-LDC category.Shahriar Alam has said that Bangladesh has received this recognition by posting on his Facebook page. The State Minister wrote, the United Nations Development Committee meeting in New York on Monday night confirmed that Bangladesh has achieved all-weather indicators for the first time from low-income countries.
