Former Pakistan captain and coach Waqar Younis will be the coach of Sylhet Sixers for the next two years in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
He will be replaced by Jafrul Ehsan in Sylhet squad for the BPL 2018 and 2019 fixtures. Waqar, currently running Pakistan Super League (PSL), is the bowling coach of Islamabad United Cricket Director. Head coach Dean Jones led the team to the top of the points list. The play-off also confirmed as the first team.
"Bangladesh is a cricket crazy nation and working with them will be a really interesting affair," Waqar said on the Cricket website Cricinfo. Currently Bangladesh is one of the top eight teams in the world. They are playing first-class cricket and it's really a pleasure to help their team as a coach to grow up. "
Sylhet Sixers has taken a lot of changes from the last year with some changes in ownership. Yasir Obaid, chief executive of the team, said, "We are proud to have a legend like him in our team. Last year he worked as our goodwill ambassador and mentor and always wanted to get him permanent care. In the end, I have got him permanently for two years as the head coach''.
