The date for hearing on the formation of GATCO corruption case against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been delayed.
The case was fixed on Sunday for hearing about the formation of the complaint. However, in the case of the three accused Ismail Hossain Sayon, Tanvir Ahmed and Gulib Hossain, the High Court stayed on the petition for the time to withdraw the hearing, their lawyer Imanur Rahman appealed for the time to withdraw.
After the hearing, the judge of the three Special Judge's Court, KM Imrul Kayes granted the application on time and fixed the date for the next hearing on 20 August.However, on Wednesday, his lawyer Sanaullah Mia appeared for Khaleda Zia.Khaleda filed a petition challenging the validity of the chargesheet filed in connection with the emergency rules and appealed for the cancellation of the case. Judicial activities were closed in the lower court for nearly eight years due to the writ petition. Dismissing the writ, the High Court ordered Khaleda Zia to surrender within two months on February 23 last year. Khaleda Zia gets bail after surrendering on 5th April last year
