NRB Commercial Bank started the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday at the 13th National Summer Athletics.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Barin Shikder inaugurated the competition in two days. Deputy Commissioner of Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy and Chairman of NRB Commercial Bank Engineer Forset Ali were the special guests. President of Bangladesh Athletics Federation ASM Ali Kabir presided over the function.The battle for the athletes' excellence begins with men running 1500 meters in the morning. Mohammad al-Amin of Bangladesh Army won gold with 4 minutes to 04.90 sec. BGB's Khandaker Kibria won silver in 4 minutes 06.40 seconds. Army's Kamrul Hasan won the bronze. He took 4 minutes to 15.30 seconds.The gold of the women's division of the event also holds Bangladesh Army. Sumi Akter won 5 minutes 30.20 seconds, while Sapia Khatun won the same team with 5 minutes 30.40 seconds. Bangladesh Navy Mirona Akhter got bronze 5 minutes 34.10 seconds time.
