The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved 12 purchase proposals of Taka 2295 crore.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith chaired the meeting in the conference room of the Cabinet Division in the Secretariat on Wednesday.Committee members, senior secretaries of cabinet division, secretaries of the Prime Minister's Office, concerned secretary of the ministry and senior officials were present.Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Mostafizur Rahman highlighted various aspects of authorized purchase proposals after the meeting.In order to increase the food reserves of the country, the cost of imported 50 thousand tonnes of rice through international tender would be 178.45 million taka. Apart from this, the purchase agreement of the shipping ministry will cost 975 crore 93 lakh taka.Food Ministry sources said that the recent floods caused due to flood in Sylhet-Sunamganj area. In addition to this year more floods are being feared. In this situation, the government has taken initiative to increase the country's food reserves. As part of this, initiatives have been taken to import rice from some countries by the government initiative.According to sources, according to the daily food grains situation report till July 12, there were 316 million tonnes of food grains, including 31.6 million tonnes of rice and 1 crore 67 lakh tons of wheat. In this situation, the government has decided to import 50,000 tonnes of pure rice under the package-04 under the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
