6.8 magnitude earthquake struck south of New Zealand on South Island It hit the 196-kilometer north-west of Auckland Island on Tuesday.
US Geological Survey USGS said the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8 on the Richter scale. Its depth was 10 kilometers from the surface. There is no immediate information on the loss of damages.GeoNet said about 2,000 people felt the earthquake.
