BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that the Awami League is torturing the leaders and workers of the party to maintain state power.
Dhaka Metropolitan BNP's publicity secretary VP Md. He said this in a statement on Sunday condemning Hanif's arrest.The BNP secretary general said, "The current ruling group has become desperate now to maintain the state power by suppressing opposition party activists including BNP and other misdeeds. The government is continuing to carry out torture and oppression on the opposition leaders and workers in the absence of lawlessness, murder, kidnapping and extrajudicial killings across the country.Md. Mirza Fakhrul, commenting on the victim's political vigilance, said, "The present government is not paying any attention to democracy, good governance, democratic rights of the people, and public opinion because it is not elected by the people's votes. But the people are now firmly determined, more united to bring the current worst mischief''.
