Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury said in the last fiscal year (2016-17) fertilizer has been given Tk 3440.63 crore subsidy.

She said that urea, TSP, DAP, MOP and MAP fertilizers were imported from different countries. Uruguay is imported from the international market by BCIC. Non-urea (TSP, DAP and MOP) fertilizers are imported through BADC and private importers. The difference between the imported fertilizer value and the dealers' sale price is provided by the bank account as subsidy.
