The National Committee for the Protection of Oil-Gas-Mineral Resources and Power-Ports has announced nationwide protests and assembly programs on 11 July.
Demanding to cancel the Rampal project.In a statement sent to the media on Friday, the National Committee convener Engineer Sheikh Muhammad Shahidullah and Member Secretary Professor Anu Muhammad said that the National Committee will organize protests and rally on 11 July to demand the cancellation of Rampal project.Besides, a rally will be held in front of the National Press Club at 4pm at the capital Dhaka. From there, the next program will be announced.In the statement, they said that it indicates the failure of discharging the responsibility assigned to UNESCO with a huge natural resource in Bangladesh and the world. Therefore, UNESCO has to bear the responsibility of any damage to the Sundarbans. The destruction of the Sunderbans and the people of this country, the UNESCO officials withdrew objectionable reasons for suspicion, but the people of Bangladesh can not withdraw objection if so.In the statement, they also said, it is very surprising that Bangladesh and the Indian government have allocated the power to advance with the world's largest mangrove forest Rampal project, with devastating stubbornness, jointly, with people and nature. Spending money from the people of the country, there are many lobbying in UNESCO.
