State Minister for Power Nasrul Hamid said UNESCO has no objection to the controversial Rampal coal-fired power plant.
He said, where the construction of the power plant is going on, there will be ongoing work.The State Minister also said that several conditions have been provided by UNESCO for environmental protection. They accept Bangladesh. They have been assured that the conditions for the construction of the power plant will be met. Talking to journalists at the Gulshan home in the capital on Friday, the state minister said this.Nasrul Hamid said on Wednesday that the 41th meeting of UNESCO held on Krakhao in Poland was discussed in the Sundarbans. A delegation from Bangladesh highlighted technical issues in the construction of Rampal power plant. The delegation also highlighted the impact this environment will have on the environment. They were able to understand that the Rampal power plant was being constructed with utmost importance for environmental protection. This will not affect the Sundarbans.
Nasrul Hamid said that the answer to each of the questions raised by UNESCO has been argued by the Bangladesh.
