At least 11 people have been missing since the flood caused due to excess rainfall in southwest Japan.
Besides, four lakh people were forced to leave their homes due to flooding.State television channel NHK said on Wednesday some 774 mm rainfall was recorded in 9 parts of Fukuoka area of Kyushu Island, which was 2.7 times more than the normal rainfall in July. Fukuoka and Oita area were the worst hit due to heavy rainfall.In some areas landslide occurred. About 7,500 rescuers, including police, firefighters and army personnel, were deployed to rescue the victims and rescue the missing.Officials said five thousand soldiers and 50 helicopters would be deployed if necessary.On Thursday, the Fukuoka area has continued to rain on the second day. Three people have been rescued from the landslide. Two of them are women. The rescued man is believed to have died.
