Before the Eid, rice was sold at a rate of Tk 48 to Tk 50. A little better price than other rice price at Tk 62.
In view of this, the government has announced to reduce the import duty, control the rice market, open the LC for the rest of the traders and import 2.5 million tonnes of rice from Vietnam.As a result of these initiatives, the expectation of price reduction of six paisa after the Eid is still going on, but the market still unstable rice market. The impact of any of these initiatives of the government has not yet started to fall in the market.The concerned people say that there was still unrest before the Eid in rice market. However, rice traders say that if these initiatives are implemented, then the price of rice will be known only after arrival in rice country from Vietnam.On Friday, in different markets like Sherawapara, Mohakhali, Karwan Bazar, there are good markets like gold, athash pajam and China eri, which are sold at a price of Rs. And the low-fat rice is sold at Tk 48. Small rice like Minket and Najirshail is being sold at Tk 56 to Rs 62.
