The World Bank is giving an additional $4.7 million to help improve Chittagong's water, sanitation and drainage system infrastructure.
The amount of Bangladeshi coins is about Tk 380 billion.The information was provided by the Dhaka office of the Dhaka office on Saturday.Dhaka office spokesman Mehrun A Mahbub said that the World Bank is funding the project for the development of water logging and sanitation system in Chittagong. The World Bank's total assistance in the project stood at 2.18 million US dollars due to additional funding approval.Through this project, about 650,000 people of the main port city of the country have been planned to get access to safe and reliable water.Meanwhile, the project has been extended from December 2012 to March 2020. The Chittagong Water Supply and Suarez Authority (CWASA) is implementing a master plan to improve the city's sanitation and sewerage system along with infrastructure development of water refinery, supply line and supply system.According to the World Bank, due to the increase in additional funding, the installation of 10 thousand new pipelines will provide water to more 27 thousand houses and 17 thousand lines will be restored.
