Fast track on the construction of a deep seaport project in Cox's Bazar

Responding to a question from Jatiya Party member Mohammad Elias Khan on Monday, he said this.The minister said that in 2009, a techno-economic feasibility study was conducted by Japan's Pacific Consultants International (PCI) to establish a deep seaport in the country.Shajahan Khan said that the survey report submitted by the Consultant Institute Pacific Consultants International (PCI) Japan has proposed to implement three-step deep seaport project in Sonadia of Cox's Bazar district.Shipping Minister said, after starting the construction of the port in the first phase, it will be five years to complete it. The second and third level work has been planned to be completed by 2035 and 2055 respectively.Also, feasibility studies are being conducted by JICA to set up a multipurpose deep seaport in Matarbari. After receiving the survey report, the construction work will be started considering the overall aspect, the minister said.
