BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has alleged that the government is being oppressed by the newspaper, "All efforts are being made to control it by hanging the clerical clerk''.
She made this comment on June 16, calling it a "black day in history" and sent a message to the media on Thursday.
Khaleda Zia said, "On June 16, 1975, a black day in the history of Bangladesh. On this day, the then-BAKSAL government made four people loyal to them and stopped the rest and made the whole nation silent. As a result, many journalists working in different newspapers were unemployed.She said, "The freedom of the newspaper is the essence of true democracy, and to ensure the security of democracy, the freedom of the newspaper must be ensured."
"The present Awami government is going on the path of regret and is continuing to fight journalists and newspapers and keeping the Kharadari sword hanging and making all out efforts to control it. All media journalists have to work in fear and fear''.
