Women are playing important role in achieving national growth

Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that women are playing an important role in achieving direct and indirect national growth. He said this when the speaker's meeting with Bangladesh's External Resident representative Mr. Christine Hunter of UN Women came on Wednesday.During the meeting, they discussed the empowerment of women in Bangladesh, socio-economic development, parliamentary affairs, social security, labor rights etc. The speaker said, Bangladesh has been progressing socially and economically under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and has been promoted to low-income countries. He said the government has been working to promote Bangladesh in middle-income country by 2021. With the special priorities of women empowerment, the present government is progressing in economic development.Speaker also said that UN Women Bangladesh could play an important role in solving the problems of working women and vehicles in Bangladesh. He said that UN Women can play a significant role in building health-friendly dormitories and hostels for women workers working in garment sector and ensuring their safe accommodation.Ms.Christine Hunter said that Bangladesh's progress in empowering women is imitative. Pointing out that women's participation in government, private and political sectors has made significant changes, she said that for the past few years Bangladesh has been consistently achieving high growth.UN Women reveals the desire to work jointly with the Bangladesh government to ensure a healthy workplace and work environment for the construction of a safe haven for working women, solving problems and grassroots working women.
