Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity has demanded to control the speed of public transport on the highway, stop the traffic congestion and stop non-fitness buses and launch movement on the upcoming Eid holidays.
The demand was made at a Round Table Conference on 'Eid Woes of the Eid: Citizen Thinking' held at Pragati Conference Hall of Mukti Bhavan at Purana Paltan in the city on Monday. Jatiya Kalyan Samity secretary general Md. Mozammel Haque Chowdhury.He said, this year the passengers will suffer the Eid. The government still has 37 percent road-highways damaged. Road, rail and water transport is 33 percent less than the normal requirement. He also said that in last year's Eid-ul-Fitr, 212 people were killed and 896 injured in 168 accidents in the country's roads, railways and waterways. In addition to the Eidul accidents, 265 people were killed and 1,153 wounded in 210 accidents.It is said in the meeting that traffic congestion is being done due to non-eviction of illegal installations and markets in the traffic congested areas on the highway. As a result of the number of trips to the desired number of pilgrims, every year of the journey of Eid journey becomes the process of death.
