Calcutta High Court judge CS Karanan has said that he will retire on today.
The Supreme Court has sentenced him to six months imprisonment for contempt of court. He is still closing in order to avoid the arrest. This is the first time in the history of India that a High Court judge retires as a runaway.Kornan wrote this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and the Supreme Court Registrar this year. In this, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Jayshree Kharera, along with the current and former, all the allegations of corruption against 20 judges. He also demanded an investigation.The Supreme Court collegium decided to transfer him from the Calcutta High Court to the Madras High Court. He also gave a stay order. The Supreme Court's seven-judge Division Bench has filed a contempt of court petition against him. He is asked to appear before the court.
