The United States suspended the GSP facility in Bangladesh, it has been four years since it started.
In view of concerns over the work environment of the readymade garment factory and the protection of workers' interest, the country has suspended free market facilities of Bangladesh. It is said that the suspension will remain in force until the working environment of the garment industry improves.But then many initiatives were taken by the government of Bangladesh. Labor laws have been amended. The trade union issue clearly came out in it. The workers' minimum wage structure has been increased, in some cases the work hours have also been worked out. The factory has been renovated. Infrastructure, health-related issues have been resolved. The progress of implementing roadmap on GSP reinstatement was sent to the USTR for GSP reviews. Before the hearing, the US gave condition to appoint 200 inspectors. In order to create safe working environment, the inspection of the staff is also required for the factories including factory inspectors and fire services. But the desired GSP is still a golden deer.
