Claims of using alternative bricks to protect the environment

Speakers at the seminar titled 'The brick kilometer breadth: endangered farmland, forests, hills and people's rights' on the occasion of World Environment Day at the National Press Club VIP Lounge on Wednesday.Organization for Land Reform and Development (ALRD), Nijera Kar and Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELLA) organized the seminar.Syeda Rizwana Hasan chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA), said, "We have to use our alternative bricks to keep the environment free of pollution and to preserve the agricultural land''. People are not encouraged to use alternative bricks due to not using alternative bricks in government projects.During this time, some recommendations were made by organizations on the environment of brick field. Recommendations:Import of bricks by considering country's food production, protection of farmland, balance of environment and brick demand. Industry status of brick manufacturing sector.
