Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 11 projects including modernization of Waste Management of Dhaka and Chittagong City Corporation (ECNEC).
Total cost of implementation of the projects has been estimated at Tk. 3,772 crore six lakhs. Of this, Tk 3603.67 crore will be given from the government fund, Tk 96.8 million from foreign aid and the implementing agency will give 22.5 million taka.The approval was given at the meeting held at the NEC conference room in city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday. The Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting. Planning Secretary Ziaul Islam, member of the General Economics Division was present. Shamsul Alam and IMED secretary Mafizul Islam.Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that the increase in the capacity of waste management in the areas of Dhaka North, Dhaka South and Chittagong City Corporation, through reduction of carbon emissions in the environment of Dhaka and Chittagong, and the sanitary conditions of Dhaka and Chittagong will be developed through sustainable waste management through the development of waste management. JICA will provide grants for this project.
