Nurjahan Begum was a pioneer and literary writer of women journalism in Bangladesh.
If she was alive she would have kept her 93rd year.She will be history for the first woman weekly 'Begum' in the Indian subcontinent. It was not only the women's magazine but also a unique platform for women's awakening. The father was Mohammad Nasiruddin, the founder of Begum magazine. Whom we all know as the editor of 'saogat'.Nurjahan Begum was born on 4 June 1925 in Chalitatoli village of Chandpur district.Publication of 'Begum' magazine started on 20 July 1947. Nurjahan Begum was then in BA Class. Like Nurjahan Begum who used to teach at Sakhawat Memorial School and Ladyborne College, they all worked for Begum. He was involved in the editing of Begum's journal since the beginning of the journal and for six decades he was the editor of Begum newspaper.
