BNP leader Moudud Ahmed has termed the excise duty hike on the money deposited in the bank in the proposed budget as a suicidal proposal of the government.
BNP Standing Committee members held a discussion at a public meeting at the VIP lounge of the National Press Club on Saturday noon.An organization called 'Bangladesh Youth Forum' organized the discussion titled 'Elections for the next parliament and politics of Bangladesh'.Moudud Ahmed said, "We believe that the proposal to tax the bank's deposit is a miserable step of the government." In the last two years, 34 thousand crore rupees have been made abroad. Now, due to imposition of additional tax on the bank's deposits, people will not keep the money in the bank''.
