BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has commented that there is nothing for the general public, low-income and middle class in the budget of Tk 4,266 crore proposed in the parliament.
He made this comment at a discussion titled 'Elections for the next parliament and politics of Bangladesh' organized by Bangladesh Youth Forum in the National Press Club on Saturday.
Barrister Moudud said, "The big budget is the medium of big corruption. The government seems to be surprised to see this budget, but there is nothing for the common people, low-income and middle class. Through this budget the government has imposed a burden on people''.He said, "The biggest weakness of the budget is that there is no specific policy to counter corruption. Large funds have been allocated for big projects. Large projects mean bigger bribe and corruption. There is no word about the bank's bankruptcies with the loan of thousands of crores of rupees in this budget. There is no mention of the share scandal, hallmark corruption and Destiny's corruption''.
