BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that-''the government is increasing gas prices due to corruption in the energy sector''.
The verdict of Supreme Court chamber adjourned the High Court verdict on gas price increase on Tuesday. As a result, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) did not have any hindrance in gas prices since on 1 June.In response to the verdict of the court, on Wednesday afternoon, Fakhrul complained. Khaleda Zia inaugurated Textile and Food Distribution Program among the destitute people at the local BNP's initiative on the adjoining Amin Complex in the city. Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir talked to journalists.In the first phase of gas, the increased value is effective from 1 March. After the price rise, the prices of one oven gas is increased from 600 to 750 rupees, and for two stoves it is set at Tk 650 to 800. In the second phase, the price increased from June 900 and 950 respectively.In the second phase, the decision to increase the price of gas from June for six months has been postponed.
