The demand for budget allocations for tobacco-related sectors has been reported by a no-smoking club.
The demand was made at a discussion meeting of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) at Sagar-Runi auditorium in the city on Tuesday, the World Anti-Tobacco Day, on the occasion of 2017.National drug control taskforce and member of the National Drug Control Board Professor Dr.Urup Ratan Chowdhury said, "Twilight people get sick every year due to tobacco products. This tobacco hinders our development. Taxes are increased by 10 percent per annum on bidi-cigarette in the developed world. But in our country the tax is not rising. However, taxation on tobacco will not only increase the tax and the law will not be there. People have to be aware of humanity must awaken between people''.
