Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance has called for active voluntary organizations to control tobacco in the country.
At the same time, the organizations have been asked to bring under the supervision of organizations that receive foreign assistance.On Tuesday, the demand was made in round table discussion titled "Need for strengthening the activism of anti-tobacco organization in the anti-tobacco movement" at the SLE Center in Panthapath, on the occasion of ''World No Tobacco Day''.Alliance leaders in the seminar said more than 700 volunteer organizations working in the control of tobacco. But only seven organizations are getting foreign aid. Overseas-assisted organizations are exploiting the benefits of voluntary organizations by keeping themselves behind their work. In this, voluntary organizations are losing interest in the work. They demanded to bring overseas aid organizations to surveillance.
