The European Court of Human Rights has said in a verdict that in 2004 Russia was responsible for the failure of the 330 people who were killed in the hostage school in Jijmidas.
The court said Russia failed to protect the school from being hostage. There is a great deal of criticism about the operation that is being conducted to end the hostage drama and investigations into this incident.Chechen rebels hosted around 1,000 people in Baslan's school, Namrupar Yun, most of whom were children. At the end of the three-day hostage, the number of deaths was 330 people, of which 186 were children.
