At least 31 people, including 14 police officials, were killed by Islamic State (IS) militants in Tikrit town north of Iraq.
Besides, 40 more were injured.Security forces and hospital sources said on Wednesday that the attack was carried out on Tuesday night.Police officer Col Khalid Mahmud said that 175km north-east of Baghdad, the militants entered the Tikrit town and brought them to a police car after police uniform. The group had about 10 militants, including two suicide victims. They attacked a police patrol and a colonel's house in the police. The police colonel, including four members of the family, were killed in the attack.
