May Key Share price index at the country’s twin bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) slumped on Tuesday after five consecutive days of gain, reported UNB.


The DSE benchmark index, DSE shed 22.61 points or 0.52 percent to close at 4326.61 on the day. Of the 314 issues traded, 103 gained, 185 declined and 18 remained unchanged.
Shares worth Tk 554.40 crore changed hands at the DSE on Tuesday against Tk 596.71 crore on last Monday.
IDLC Finance, a leading stockbroker in the country said, “The bourse faced a natural correction as some investors intended to realize positive return accumulated from last five days’ consecutive gain of 389.5 points.”
They also said, “However, Bangladesh Bank’s recent circular on relaxing the provisioning requirement of Mutual Funds for NBFIs, after Banks, encouraged some institutional investors to be in buying mood in Mutual Funds.”
The day’s top 10 losers at the DSE were Information Services Network, Generation Next Fashions, Purabi General Insurance, Prime Islami Life Insurance, Fine Foods, Industrial Promotion & Development, Bangladesh Finance and Investment, Popular Life Insurance, Miracle Industry, and Premier Cement.
The top five turnover leaders at the DSE were United Power Generation & Distribution Company, Khulna Power Company, RAK ceramic, Beximco and Ifad Autos.
The CSE key index, CASPI also dropped 77.15 points to reach 13343.51 at close on Tuesday. Of the 244 issues traded, 93 advanced, 140 suffered loss and 11 remained unchanged.
The value of the traded issues was Tk 43.88 crore on the day at the CSE.
