Detectives on Monday submitted charge sheets against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 35 others in cases filed with Paltan police station for committing violence in the city on March 2, 2013.
DB inspector Md Enamul Haque, also the investigation officer (IO) of the cases, submitted two charge sheets with the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court against the leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organisations.
One of the two charge sheets was submitted for blasting crude bombs and the other for vandalising and torching vehicles in Shantinagar area of the city during a procession in the city on March 2, 2013, court sources said. During the procession, the BNP men attacked police and a cop named Nazmul Hossain injuring him seriously.
The IO also mentioned names of 35 people as prosecution witnesses (PWs).
Contacted, Aminur Rahman, general recording officer (GRO) of Dhaka CMM court told daily sun “The submitted charge sheet would be produced before court on June 6 for taking next step”.
Among others, BNP standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Goyeshar Chandra Roy, joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman and its leaders Moazzam Hossain Alal, Saiful Alam Nirob, Habib-un-Nabi khan Sohel, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Azizul Bari Helal, Sahfiul Bari Babu, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anny , SM Jahingir, Rafiquel Alam Majnu, Habibur Rashid Habib, Abdul Kader Bhaiya Jowel, Ishak Sarkar, Mamun Hossain, Enamul Haque and Humayun Kabir were made accused in the case.
