BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 25 others were charged in a violence case.
Mohammad Enamul Haque, an inspector of Detective Branch of police and also the investigation officer of the case, today (Monday) submitted two charge sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
The other accused are BNP leaders Moudud Ahmed, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Abdullah Al Noman, Amanullah Aman, Moazzem Hossain Alal, Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annee, Habibunnabi Khan Sohel, Barkatullah Bulu and Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
According to the case statement, Fakhrul, Moudud and 24 others along with 1000 to 1200 unnamed leaders and activists brought out a protest procession in Shantinagar area of the capital on March 2 of 2013.
At one stage, they hurled five crude bombs at policemen and damaged several vehicles that left several cops seriously injured.
Later a case was filed with Paltan Police Station against them for their alleged involvement with the incidents.
