Pointing to her party leader Salahuddin`s disappearance, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday commented, "If the leader such BNP’s Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed is disappeared, then what will be the security of the general people?"
She said this in a statement, signed by the party spokesman, Asaduzzaman Ripon, this afternoon.
"Where are country`s laws and institutions," she further asked.
The BNP chief, however, reinstated her demand to send back BNP’s Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed to his house as early as possible.
BNP and Salahuddin`s family alleged that party`s joint secretary general was picked up by law enforcers on March 10 from a residence of Uttara but the law enforcers denied the claim.
On March 12, a writ petition was filed with the High Court seeking a directive to produce BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed before it within 24 hours.
Later, the High Court on March 16 adjourned till April 8 for the hearing of the petition. But law enforcers, however, had denied his picking up till now.
Salahuddin Ahmed had been delivering his party statements as the spokesperson of the party for more than a month after the arrest of Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, another senior leader of the party.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, however, claimed in this regard that BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has sent her leader Salah Uddin Ahmed to underground.
