The office of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi contracted Bangladesh administration requesting to take necessary steps to solve “law and order” problem over the alleged land grabbing in the Indian enclaves in Bangladesh.
The move came over reports of “law and order” problem over the alleged land grabbing in the Indian enclaves in Bangladesh, days after Indian Parliament ratified the land swap agreement with the neighbouring country.
According to a report of The Indian Express, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rang up Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to take steps to maintain peace in the Indian enclaves. Accordingly, the Bangladesh administration was contacted by the Prime Minister’s Office and was requested to take necessary action.
The local administration of both the countries, however, claimed that land and order problems are being “created by a group of smugglers and land mafias” who are against the land boundary agreement.
Earlier on Wednesday, in a historic step, members in Rajya Sabha unanimously give consent to the Land Boundary Agreement signed between India and Bangladesh in 1974 for exchange of enclaves.
Later on Thursday, the Indian parliament passed the constitutional amendment bill regarding the land boundary agreement with Bangladesh.
