Bangladesh student Union has called strikes at all educational institutes across the country for May 12, protesting police attack on the agitating students.
Student Union, at a press conference at the Dhaka University on Sunday afternoon, announced the strike programme.
The announcement came after at least 20 students, including student Union president Hasan Tarique and general secretary Laki Aktar, were injured after police charged batons on a procession of them marching towards the office of Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner in the capital on Sunday noon protesting the s.. attack on women during the celebration of Pohela Boishakh at Dhaka University campus.
Later, the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier, on April 14, the first day of Bangla New Year, a number of young men molest assaulted women, even stripped at least one, at Suhrawardy Udyan gate near the TSC of Dhaka University
