Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday unveiled the foundation plaque of Rabindra University, country’s 35th public university, at Shahjadpur Upazila of the district.
The premier unveiled the plaque at Shahjadpur Pilot High School ground at 10:20am and inaugurated several other development works here.
She also inaugurated the project of promoting Sirajganj 150MW Gas Turbine Power Plant into 225MW Combined Cycle, a newly built regional passport office, Institute of Marine Technology, district registrar’s office, 250MW Extended Power Combined Circle and Sheikh Russell Children Park.
Health minister Nasim, education minister Nurul Islam Nahid, cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Nur and Professor Emeritus Anisuzzaman were, among others, present in the program.
Later, Sheikh Hasina participated in the 154th birth anniversary program of Rabindranath Tagore, organized by cultural affairs ministry, at Shahjadpur Pilot High School ground.
