Both houses of Indin Parliament—Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha—passed the historic Land Boundary Agreement to redraw border with Bangladesh.
Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Thursday presented the bill concerning the land boundary agreement with Bangladesh before the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian parliament, to pass it after discussion.
Earlier on Wednesday, Rajya Sabha passed the Land Boundary Agreement (LBA) bill in their Rajya Sabha.
Passing the LBA bill is expected to pave the way in solving the implementation of the agreement signed on May 16, 1974 between Bangladesh and India in acquiring and transferring enclaves between the two countries.
Sushma Swaraj hoped the problems between the both countries will be solved by passing the bill.
Bangladesh also congratulated India for passing the long-cherished LBA bill.
State minister of Bangladesh foreign ministry M Shahriar Alam congratulated India foreign ministry and parliament members for passing the bill.
