500 mosques to be built countrywide

According to the sources of Islamic Foundation, the estimated budget of this mega project has been estimated at an amount ranging from Tk 3,000 to 4,000 crores. A budget of Tk 6 to 6.5 crore has been projected for each mosque.

All mosques will be built in five phases while some 100 mosques will be constructed in the first phase within next five years.

The most fascinating features of these mosques will be their exterior views as all mosques will be looked like Al-Masjid an-Nabawi from outside due to the building design, said the sources.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the authorities concerned to work in the project during her visit in the Ministry of Religious Affairs on February 8.

Shamim Mohammad Afzal, director general of Islamic Foundation, told that everyone involving to the project is passing very busy time as the premier gives the instruction.

Islamic Foundation has been working on project as per the premier’s instructions and will place the project summery before her within next two months.

Later, the project will be approved on urgent-basis, followed by beginning the implementation works soon.

Islamic Foundation director (plan) Shaduddin Khan told  that mosques will be built at every upazila of the district and they are working with the people concerned on   project formulation.

The premier herself has been taking care about the works all the time, he added.

Each mosque will be a four-storied building, to be constructed on a land of 20 to 40 acres on the basis of population of the area.

Feature of the complex will include separate place for women on the ground floor to offer prayer. Man will perform prayer on 1st and 2nd floor. A library will be set up on top floor.

Each complex will have separate rooms for research, child teaching, cultural functions, guests, hajj training and more.
