There was calm at Bangladesh University of Textile on Sunday morning after the clash between two student League factions left at least five people injured late at night.
Md Salahuddin, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station, told clam had returned at the educational institution and its authorities were observing the situation.
Late on Saturday night, the turf war broke out between supporters of Shaheed Aziz Hall student League president Shahadat Hossain Shishir and general secretary Nazmuk Sakib over allocating seats to freshers at the hall.
OC Salahuddin told that police went to the hall around 03:00am and calmed the political activists down.
University sources said rivalry over who would dominate the dormitory prevailed between the two groups which led to the clash early on Sunday.
Panic spread among resident students when members of the two groups prepared to face off with sticks, iron rods and machetes in their hands.
