Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Ziauddin met the Republican Congressman Matt Salmon, Chairman of the United States House Sub-committee on Asia Pacific.
They met at the Capitol Hill on Friday where Ziauddin briefed the Congressman on the economic and social developments in Bangladesh.
He said Bangladesh is maintaining more than 6.2 percent economic growth despite worldwide recession. Bangladesh has also achieved or in close to achieving several MDG targets well before 2015.
The Bangladesh Ambassador mentioned that his country’s economy is moving at a fast pace and is expected to become a middle-income “Digital Bangladesh” by fulfilling Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s vision 2021, the Bangladesh Ambassador added.
He said Bangladesh and the United States enjoy robust bilateral relations and that right now the 4th Partnership dialogue between Bangladesh and the US is taking place in Dhaka.
Economic Minister Shahabuddin Patwary and Political Counselor Nayem Uddin Ahmed of the Embassy accompanied the Ambassador during the meeting.
